ABOUT THE ARTIST

Melanie Borjas is an award-winning tattoo artist, fashion designer, and creative director based in Miami.

Born in Venezuela, her artistic journey began early, shaped by a deep passion for drawing, dancing, movement, textures, and her love for nature. These influences became the foundation of her visual language—expressive, symbolic, and rooted in storytelling.

Before entering the tattoo world, Melanie built a strong multidisciplinary career in fashion. She developed collections and creative concepts showcased at platforms such as Miami Swim Week, Paraiso Miami Beach, FUNKSHION, and Apparel Textile Sourcing Miami. Her work has also appeared in artistic exhibitions, including projects supporting Goya and other community-focused cultural initiatives.

Throughout her artistic career, Melanie has also contributed to philanthropic efforts. She has participated in events supporting breast cancer awareness and has been part of Marcando Vidas, a charitable tattoo event dedicated to supporting families and individuals in need. These experiences strengthened her belief in art as a form of connection, healing, and collective impact.

In addition to her work in tattooing and fashion, Melanie has collaborated with musicians and creative teams on artistic productions, expanding her multidisciplinary identity and enriching her approach to visual storytelling.

Her commitment to education and artistic intention led her to create Sacred Ink, a published guide exploring the emotional, symbolic, and practical aspects of tattooing. The book reflects her belief that tattoos are more than visuals—they are stories, memories, and personal transformations made visible.

Tattooing eventually became the medium where all her creative worlds converged. Today, Melanie is recognized for her blend of traditional and neo-traditional foundations, symbolic detail, and intention-driven compositions—creating tattoos that feel personal, timeless, and meaningful.

 

Melanie currently works at Inked Miami, one of the most respected studios in the industry and a trusted collaborator of Inked Magazine.

Her purpose as an artist remains the same: to translate stories, emotions, and human experiences into art that lives on the skin and becomes part of someone’s journey.
